When is the deadline for submitting applications?
The deadline to submit an online application is 1:00 p.m. CT
on February 17, 2010. The deadline to submit recommendations is 1:00 p.m. CT on February 19, 2010.
All supplemental materials must be received by February 17.
I missed the deadline. Can I still apply?
Due to the larger number of applicants submitted, no applications will be accepted after the deadline.
Is there a fee to apply?
No.
I am a home-schooled student. Can I apply?
Yes.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. You must be a graduating high school senior and no older than 20 years of age as of August 1, 2010.
I received a General Education Diploma (GED). Can I apply?
Yes. If you are no older than 20 years of age as of August 1, 2010 and will have received your GED by June 30, 2010 you may apply.
I am currently in college. Can I apply?
If you are currently attending college as a freshman or sophomore and are no older than 20 years of age as of August 1, 2010 you may apply.
Is there a minimum SAT or ACT score requirement?
No.
What if my SAT or ACT score changes after I submit my application? Should I update you on my scores?
No. The scores that you submitted before February 17 are sufficient.
Is there a minimum grade point average requirement?
Yes. All high school applicants must have and maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. All college applicants must have a 2.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Do I have to be a United States citizen to apply for a scholarship?
Applicants are required to be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident (in possession of a Permanent Resident Card) in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.
Is this scholarship for applicants living in the south only?
The Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship is limited to applicants that reside in the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.
Is there an income limit?
Financial need is an important factor in awarding this scholarship.
What supplemental documents must I submit?
You are required to submit an official transcript of grades along with the Application Review Form. The transcript(s) and review form must be received by February 17, 2010.

How does the review process work?
You must print your application prior to submitting it.
Provide a copy of the application along with the Application Review Form to your principle, guidance counselor, dean, or advisor. The school official
will review your application. Once the school official certifies the application by completing the Review Form, you must log into the online application and officially submit it.
The school official will mail your
transcript(s) and Review Form to the address above.
Whose income should be listed if my parents are separated or divorced?
You should list the income of the parent/guardian with whom you lived with for most of this past year. If you are not listed on that tax return, please include a note that briefly explains the situation.
Can I use the Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship at any college and for any major?
All scholarships may be used at an educational institution that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum, that normally has a regularly organized body of students in attendance, and that is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as being accredited by recognized accrediting agencies. All scholarship recipients may pursue any major of their choice leading to a bachelor’s degree. If the educational institution is a technical college, you do not have to be a degree-seeking candidate.
Is the Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship a renewable award and what is the amount of the award?
The Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship award amount varies depending on the need of the student. The award may be renewed annually for a maximum of four academic years (or eight semesters) as long as all requirements are fulfilled.
If I am awarded a Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship, how do I get my money?
You will be contacted by the Jimmy Rane Foundation with scholarship award details.
Do I have restrictions on how to spend my scholarship money?
Yes. Scholarship funds may only be used for tuition and fees, books, supplies and equipment, room and board, and travel or research that are incidental to the purposes of this scholarship. Upon the foundations approval, you may also be able to use your funds for approved internships and study abroad programs.
If I am awarded other scholarships or financial aid, does it affect my eligibility for a Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship?
No. You are still eligible; however, the amount awarded may be adjusted.
The only other exception is if you
receive a scholarship that covers all of your expenses.
We would ask that you notify the
foundation so that we may re-award the scholarship funds.
When are the winners notified? Are all applicants notified?
The awardees are notified personally in April. All other applicants are notified by
email.
Where does funding for the Jimmy Rane Foundation
Scholarship come from?
The Jimmy Rane Charity Golf Tournament is the only
fund-raising event held by the foundation which is supported through
sponsorships.
